Huawei’s Deng spreads innovation

-

With strong experience in connectivity technology in various part of the world, Abel Deng has taken Huawei Thailand to the forefront of wireless networks and information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure provision in the country.

Two years on from his appointment as chief executive officer of Huawei Technologies Thailand, the company has become a crucial provider of advanced 5G infrastructure, cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to help boost the economy.

5G technology is turning Thailand around with the value of 5G-driven business and services expected to hit 650 billion baht by 2030, with the ultrafast internet service set to play an instrumental role in pushing S-curve industries in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) area, say key figures in the state and private sectors. Under his directive, Huawei as a leading technology and trusted ICT partner has committed to helping the country's economy grow.

Huawei has delivered more than 10,000 5G base stations to operators in Thailand, and continues to support efforts to increase the 5G penetration rate, expected to reach 10% by the end of this year.

Huawei will also continue with its 700-million-baht investment to build a third domestic data centre, and cooperate with partners to launch an industrial SMEs cloud platform.

Mr Deng says Thailand possesses tremendous potential to grow regionally. He has made it a company mission to push for a fully connected and intelligent Thailand, in line with Huawei’s vision to bring digital innovation to everyone.

Huawei has also supported Siriraj Hospital in the launch of its “Siriraj World Class 5G Smart Hospital” project, which it hopes will transform the hospital into a role model for other public hospitals in Thailand.

The project will see 5G, cloud computing and AI technology applied in various areas of medical practice, aimed at enhancing medical services and the productivity of medical institutions, to provide access to advanced healthcare services in remote areas.

As environmental and social responsibilities take on a bigger role, Mr Deng and Huawei have committed to empowering Thailand to become Asean’s carbon neutral leader.

It will work with governments and industry partners, after the Energy Ministry and the government proposed a roadmap for its vision of carbon neutrality by 2050.

The CEO has localised the operation of its Huawei Digital Power Business to provide clean energy solutions in Thailand under its “Green for Future” concept. The solutions include smart solar residential energy, which turns household rooftops into clean energy generators.
