Police nab fraud, illegal gun suspects

SAMUT SAKHON: Key suspects in a pyramid investment fraud scheme and in illegal firearms trading conducted online have been arrested, police told a press briefing yesterday.

In the first case, a woman named Watchara was arrested in Krathum Baen district after more than 50 people complained to police accusing her of running a pyramid scheme, said Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittiprapat, deputy national police chief.

The woman allegedly used Facebook to advertise the scheme, which drew a lot of members, before disappearing. Police estimated the damages at more than 10 million baht.

In another case, Pol Gen Damrongsak said a man identified only as Kritsada was arrested in Bang Phli district when police raided a house storing a large cache of ammunition and firearms.
