Clue surfaces about ghost ship

MARITIME: A logbook believed to be from an abandoned Chinese cargo ship that later sank off the coast of Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Sichon district on Jan 8 has been found, the Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Centre (ThaiMECC) has said.

Thai-MECC spokesman RAdm Itthipat Kawinfueangfukul yesterday said the logbook for a vessel called the Jin Shui Yuan, covering May 19-Aug 27 2016, had been found. It had a stamped seal belonging to a maritime safety office in Tianjin, China.

The ship’s captain was named Qi Xue Jun, but other related documents sunk along with the ship.
