Arçelik Hitachi opts for Thailand base
Arçelik Hitachi Home Appliances has chosen Thailand as the location for its headquarters, in order to strengthen its production power and position in the rapidly growing Asian market.
The company employs more than 5,200 people in Thailand and believes the kingdom is one of the key markets for it to succeed, with Thai consumers’ growing purchasing power, their need for quality products, the country’s modern infrastructure as well as a skilled workforce.
“We established our company in Thailand to leverage Hitachi-branded products’ presence around the globe,” said Zafer Ustuner, chief executive of Arçelik Hitachi Home Appliances. “We now export Hitachi-branded products that we produce in Thailand to more than 65 countries around the globe. More than 50% of Hitachi-branded home appliances in the world are produced in Thailand.”
Arçelik Hitachi Home Appliances aims to strengthen its portfolio with new products, including large-sized and premium multi-door refrigerators, frontloading washing machines, cordless vacuum cleaners and coffee machines.
“We are not only expanding the categories with new products but also innovating them with smart and unique features. Our newly introduced front loader washing machines and washer dryers have already started to attract new customers with their advanced features and technologies such as Autodose, AI wash, Wind Iron and IoT,” Mr Ustuner said.
He also vowed to continue transforming his company’s business, while protecting the planet at the same time, by integrating sustainability into all business operations and its entire value chain.
“With our sustainability structure, we ensure that sustainability is top of our agenda,” Mr Ustuner said. “Recently, we have achieved another step in our sustainability journey in line with our commitment to a better future.
“Almost 20% of our total energy consumption in our manufacturing facility in Kabin Buri is now provided from floating solar farms, which allows us to reduce 6,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions yearly.”
