I will do my best for team — Benjamin

- TOR CHITTINAND

Oxford United midfielder Benjamin Davis is hoping to make an impression on the Thai football fans in his first appearance in the SEA Games.

Benjamin has just joined the Thai U23 team for the biennial tournament in Vietnam where the War Elephants play their first group stage game against Malaysia tomorrow evening.

Benjamin, also known as Ben Davis, has been selected for the national team many times in the past but was ruled out due to injuries and other issues.

“I am very happy and it feels really great to come back and play for the national team once again,” said Benjamin.

“I will try to help the team go as far as we can and put in my best effort for the country.

“It was a pity that during the Asian Championship qualifying tournament in Mongolia, I did not have enough time to train with the national team and played for only a few minutes.

“I was injured during the first five minutes of the only game I played. The pitch in Mongolia was too hard but there was nothing anyone could do about it.

“As for the Suzuki Cup, I did not go to Singapore because of a technical issue with my participation in the tournament.

“I hope this time, I will have the opportunity to perform. My aim is to do my best for the team and help the team as much as possible.

“The atmosphere in the team now is very good.

“Although we have not had much time to train, I believe that we will still be able to perform well in the tournament,” he added.

Meanwhile, the remaining four players joined the team in Vietnam yesterday after playing for their clubs in the last round of the Thai League 1 matches on Wednesday night.

Metee Sarakum, Nakin Visetchart, Korawich Tasa and Airfan Doloh started training with team yesterday.
