- KOMSAN TORTERMVASANA

SET-listed True Corporation Plc, the country’s second largest mobile operator by subscriber base, has upgraded its True Smart Merchant application, a merchant management platform for vendors, with new features and privileges to boost the engagement of vendors and ease their business pain points amid the difficult time brought about by the pandemic.

The upgrade includes the development of the core format, user interface processing, the embedding of Thai language for all functions as well as new features driving sellers to gain optimum benefits from the app.

With the upgrade, the company aims to see a 200% growth in usage by merchants.

Panet Thongtan, head of O2O (online to offline) and True Food at True Corporation, said there are 240,000 merchants on the platform, which was launched three years ago.

“The company has made an upgraded version of the app through surveys and research involving retailers and sellers in a bid to ease the burdens on their operations,” said Mr Panet.

Merchants will be supported with secure payment and privileges from True Points while being able to expand their customer base through True Group’s promotion channels and attain free internet assistance from True Gigatex Fibre.

Sellers will also receive extra revenue by becoming a sales agent for True products.

Vendors are seeing a change in customer behaviour driven by new digital lifestyles and the latest upgrade of the app is meant to help modern sellers capitalise on digital tech.

Through the app, merchants will be assisted and supported in various ways, which would help boost their revenue and reduce expenses with various privileges provided. The software will also run faster on True’s 5G network, Mr Panet said.

The app’s design has also been revamped with new functions, features and benefits for merchants.

True has also introduced a new advertising campaign for the upgraded app focused on ways to promote shops and increasing sales.

The campaign stars Kan Kantathavorn, Thailand’s leading actor and emcee, as well as Jongjai “Jae Jong” Kitsawang, a renowned food vendor, who has succeeded in boosting sales by using the app.

Mr Panet said sellers can register for “True Smart Merchant” for free on the @True Smart Merchant Line account or via the 1326 hotline.

“The newly enhanced software is expected to significantly aid merchants in their commercial operations while also propelling the Thai economy forward sustainably together.”
