First unveiled in 1970, the Camaleonda has passed through five decades of design history as a true icon. In its 2020 rendition, the modular sofa preserves the elements that have made it a contemporary classic, such as its innovative system of cables, hooks and rings that allow the modules to be unhooked and recombined, allowing it to adapt to the evolving taste and dynamic needs of those using it. Designer Mario Bellini, who first created this seating module, kept the new edition faithful to its original design, complete with the backrest and armrest and the original cutting pattern. He recently commented, “Of all the objects I have designed, Camaleonda is perhaps the best in terms of its sense of freedom. There are infinite number of possible configurations.” Today, owners have the choice of covering their new sofa with B&B Italia’s entire textile and leather collection, allowing for another variable in the multitude of possible options.
