Porntip “Mook” Attakanwong

-

OWNER/CURATOR/CREATIVE DIRECTOR, ATT 19

Mook found early success in the fashion industry overseas – from having her designs displayed in the holiday windows of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, to being named one of 200 emerging designers by Vogue Italia in 2014. Since early 2019, the 29-year-old has been running ATT 19, an art space housed in a centuryold building off Charoen Krung Road that’s home to a gallery, a café, a chef’s table, and a retail space offering curated antiques, art, fashion and craft-centered lifestyle products. The building was once home to the Arthorn Suksa Chinese language school, but it was lovingly restored, remodeled, and reborn as ATT 19, where Mook’s responsibilities now range from PR and social media management, to press relations and purchasing. However, she is most proud of her curation work, especially collaborating closely with young, undiscovered talents from the conceptualising stage to the setting up of the exhibition. “I love being able to support emerging artists through my curation, and to inspire the younger generation through my exhibitions,” she explains. And although she understands the many challenges of running an independent gallery in Bangkok, she believes in its potential and wants to further its reach. “I hope to expand our gallery and brand worldwide, with more initiatives to help the local communities and young artists monetise their craft and knowledge through our platform.”
