CHARACTERISED BY SOPHISTICATED tailoring and detailing, as well as exquisite materials, the contemporary furniture pieces in the 2020 collection, on display now at Minotti Bangkok by Chanintr, are an authentic blend of aesthetics, design, couture, and sartorial savoir-faire. Here below we highlight the most distinctive pieces from the Indoor Collection, designed for both residential contexts as well as for hospitality.

The Connery seating system, by Rodolfo Dordoni design, exhibits a strong geometric and architectural appeal, and pure lines reminiscent of the mid-century American spirit, best expressed in the pairing of original square and round chaise-lounges. The leather bands of the structural base, sewn together with straps and marked out by stitching that adds rhythm to the design, are made with the same technique used in fine leather luggage-crafting. The same concept of high-end leather also inspires the freely adjustable headrests. Overall, it’s a well-structured, customisable range which offers several different compositional options.

The Blazer, also by Rodolfo Dordoni, displays a rigorous geometry of volumes with a haute couture approach; an exceptional example of the authentic artisanal attitude of Minotti. The system includes seats with a depth of 108 cm, and chaise-lounge elements with a depth of 143 cm, with high and low backrests and armrests. It’s complemented by a series of cushions in different sizes, and headrests – which can be freely positioned – decorating the seats and offering maximum comfort. Blazer expresses a brand-new style, mixing the high sartorial matelassé effect crafting technique, which qualifies it as an exclusive, sophisticated product; distinguishable due its exceptional quality, with a contemporary look characterised by clean, minimal lines.

By contrast, the Torii, by Nendo, is notable for its constructive details linked to Japanese tradition. The modular seats play with round edged volumes, thin profiles, and the apparent formal simplicity of an extremely detailed design. The metal structure of the legs of the seats and tables is a nod to the image of the torii, the entrance gate to Shinto shrines in Japan, but this furniture family also includes sofas, inclined sofas, armchairs and lounge chairs, as well as ottomans, coffee tables, and a slender ovalshaped console table, ideal for placing anywhere in the living area. All the upholstered elements of the system can be customised by choosing a covering 100 percent fabric or leather, or in fabric with a leather base.

Finally, the Daiki, by Marcio Kogan of studio mk27 Design, was inspired by this Brazilian architect’s many trips to Japan. The Daiki family, which includes armchairs with a deep seat – available both with and without armrests – and footstool, are born out of Marcio’s deep passion for Japanese culture and are conceived as a heartfelt tribute to Japanese design. The seat’s curved shell, created using sophisticated wood crafting techniques, is comprised of two elements joined at a 45 degree angle, with a sloping backrest that guarantees maximum comfort and a snug fit for cushions. This series offers a different take on a design that explores and reinterprets the American mid-century atmospheres, with bold clean lines, precious materials, and balanced proportions.
