REFLECTION OF INFINITY

Towards the end of this month, SAC Gallery will unveil a magnificent retrospective of the late Thai-based French sculptress known as Val (1967-2016). The show, entitled Reflection of Infinity, highlights her life and career with a curated selection of sculptures dating from 2007 to 2016. Val – born Valérie Goutard – had a deep bond with Thailand and was one of the most renowned international artists to build her career here. Her work creates a unique sense of space via curves and contrast, with the weight of the bronze seemingly at odds with the gravity-defying light lines and delicate balance inherent in her works.

Her final collection of bronze and glass was produced alongside Murano’s glass masters in 2016, and these will be on show for the first time in Thailand as part of this exhibition. Val has been hailed by as one of the most significant French sculptors of the past century.
