SKY HIGH INDULGENCE

The SIAM KEMPINSKI HOTEL BANGKOK’S new Presidential Terrace Suite is a wonderfully spacious luxury accommodation option that’s perfect for large gatherings of family and friends

-

IN SEPTEMBER OF 2020, the luxurious Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok celebrated its milestone 10th anniversary, marking a full decade since Kempinski Hotels, Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group, opened its first Thailand property. This spectacular five-star city-resort, located in the heart of Bangkok, adjacent to Sra Pathum Palace, exudes unparalleled elegance at every turn. The Kingdom’s vast artistic heritage is a key theme within the hotel, and in total the property displays 4,000 pieces of art, including over 200 original paintings and sculptures by Thai artists.

Adding to all that visual splendour is the newly unveiled Presidential Terrace Suite, which is perfectly positioned on the 16th floor of the hotel’s Royal Wing 2. It’s the second addition to what will be a collection of five signature suites designed by Bangkok-based Max Studio, who have specialised in hospitality design for over 30 years.

“Our new Presidential Terrace Suite combines contemporary luxury design with classic Thai hospitality,” remarked managing director Richard Schestak. “The designers have made very clever use of the available space to create a suite that offers every possible comfort and luxury for the residents and their guests, and the suite also presents a unique opportunity for private entertaining in the heart of Bangkok.”

The suite itself measures an impressive 280 square metres, and its spacious floor plan includes and extensive outdoor recreation area – hence the name ‘Terrace Suite’ – complete with a private deck, a refreshing plunge pool, a sunbed lounge, and an outdoor entertainment area. The al fresco dining table on the private pool deck seats six guests for a casual breakfast or BBQ meal, while the electric-powered retractable awning provides shade from the morning sun on the east-facing deck.

Moving from outdoors to indoors, the tasteful

interior design effortlessly captures the essence of contemporary, upscale living. Plenty of natural light makes its way inside the beautifully appointed suite, and this, in turn, highlights the opulent furnishings and décor, which includes beautiful polished wooden flooring, rich colour schemes, glittering marble accents, and exquisite furniture made right here in Thailand by skilled craftsmen. The elegant interior also features every creature comfort imaginable, such as four 75-inch flat-screen HD TVS, a state-of-the-art home theatre system, as well as an impressive wine cellar and private bar area, all of which make hosting an intimate gathering utterly pleasurable.

Come nightfall, guests can peacefully retreat in their sumptuous master bedroom, designed for maximum comfort and outfitted with the finest furnishings and features, including a plush king-size bed, a complementing seating area and a separate walk-in dressing area with wardrobes. Meanwhile, the sublimely gorgeous en-suite has several highlights of its own, such as a large stand-alone oval bath and a double shower cubicle.

Within the primary living area, a slatted wooden room partition has been incorporated into the design, which makes it easy to create a separate space for use as a dressing room, a study, or an additional guest bedroom, as the comfortable couch converts quickly into a double bed. The extravagant suite comes with numerous hosting spaces, including an indoor grand marble dining table capable of seating 10 guests, which makes it the perfect spot for welcoming large gatherings of family members and friends.

Guests who find themselves enjoying the comforts of Siam Kempinski’s new Presidential Terrace Suite can also avail themselves of unlimited access to the hotel’s Executive Lounge, where complimentary breakfast, all-day refreshments, an indulgent afternoon tea service, and sophisticated evening cocktails are available. Of course, it would be a shame for anyone to stay at this landmark hotel and not make a visit to one, or all, of the property’s fine dining establishments, which include the Michelin-starred Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin restaurant, and ALATI, the hotel’s Mediterranean-inspired, all-day dining spot boasting a relaxed atmosphere within a casual, yet stylish setting.
