EDITOR’S LETTER
In the face of adversity – in this case, the prolonged disruptive situation caused by the Coronavirus pandemic – there’s an important lesson to be taken from the luxury sector. It is during uncertain times that companies and brands are forced to champion creativity and innovation even further, converting crisis into opportunity and adopting new ways to win the hearts and minds of consumers.
In this unprecedented moment of crisis in modern history, the luxury sector has proved that rapid responsiveness is the only way to maintain market share and ensure sustainable growth. While the launch of new products and collections have continued in scaled-down formats with Zoom presentations and virtual events, the most profound changes have occurred in consumer behaviour and the way brands are responding to changes on the luxury landscape.
The only given is that creativity and innovation remain intrinsically linked to every brand’s proposition – not only in the way they do business but the offerings themselves. Our February issue is evidence of this; packed to the brim with inspiring fashion, beauty launches, watches, jewellery and other exciting lifestyle products, just in time to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Ox in style. Indeed, life goes on.
Cover personality Tanchanok ‘Omi’ Vajarodaya, founder of Thailand’s leading yacht charter company Blue Voyage Group, took our crew on an idyllic cruise in Krabi on southern Thailand’s west coast, a province characterised by craggy, sheer limestone cliffs, hundreds of offshore islands and crystal-clear, turquoise waters. It is here, on the open sea, that this self-made businesswoman is in her element. Omi is a dynamic and empowered modern-day woman who has carved out her own successful path – despite being born into a life of privilege.
Kick back and indulge in the curated pages of this issue. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we did, putting it all together. And from all of us to you and yours, a very happy and prosperous Chinese New Year!
