For its latest horological offering, the Polo Skeleton, Piaget has mined its own history by combining the 1980s sports-watch aesthetic of the Polo line with a super-skinny skeletonised movement, the latter pioneered by the maison in the ’70s. The result is an elegantly slim (at around 6.5mm) timepiece in steel that puts its inner workings — finished either in blue PVD or slate grey — on full display through its cushion-shaped dial aperture. The automatic Calibre 1200S, which is a mere 2.4mm thick, is driven by a slate-coloured rotor that’s visible through the caseback and provides 42 hours of power on a full wind. The Polo Skeleton comes on an H-pattern steel bracelet that’s interchangeable with an alligator-leather strap that’s also provided.
