24 HOURS OF LE MANS

The 89th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans takes place this month at the Circuit de la Sarthe, in the town of Le Mans, France. Held annually since 1923, it is considered one of the most prestigious and demanding automotive competitions in the world. The race has twice been immortalised by Hollywood, most recently in the superb 2019 film Ford v Ferrari, as well as in the 1971 classic Le Mans, starring Steve Mcqueen. Incidentally, the actual Porsche 917 driven by Mcqueen in the film is said to be going up for auction soon, and experts have predicted that it could reach a record price of US$15 million.
