Newly arrived on Sukhumvit Soi 11 is Tony’s, a modern, New York-style Italian dining spot. The “Tony” in the restaurant’s name is owner and Executive Chef Anthony Burd, who arrived in Bangkok in early 2020 to take over the kitchen at The Sukhothai Hotel Bangkok’s award-winning La Scala. Now, with this most recent venture, the talented New Jersey native is fulfilling his long-held dream of creating his own restaurant, where he can showcase fresh interpreta­tions of Italian-american cuisine. Recommende­d menu highlights include: baked clams served with scallops and fennel; tortellini with shrimp; veal parmigiana; truffle pizza made in the restaurant’s wood-fired oven; and venerated classics like spaghetti bolognese (available from the special menu). And while the food has a nice rustic touch, the overall look and feel is tastefully upscale, with a white-tiled façade, accents of wood, crisp white tablecloth­s, and a blue-tiled open kitchen where you can get a glimpse of the chefs at work.
