Over The Influence is a contemporary art gallery consortium, founded in Hong Kong in 2015 and expanded to Los Angeles in 2018. This month, OTI opens their brand-new Bangkok branch, just slightly ahead of the early 2022 opening of their new Paris art gallery. The Bangkok space is located in historic Talat Noi (on Tri Mit Road), and the debut exhibition will be a solo show by Todd James, who began his career as a graffiti artist in the New York City subway system of the early 1980s. His upcoming Bangkok show, entitled ‘Clean Jellybean’, features paintings that elaborate on the artist’s themes of surreal interiors, geopolitics, and candid portraits of women, all rendered in vibrant, saturated palettes with abstract forms. Incidentally, Todd is also the co-creator of Street Market, a major work of the post-graffiti movement which was selected for the 2001 Venice Biennale.
