POSITIVE VIBES

-

Let’s face it, staying positive can be tough – especially during times when we are bombarded with a succession of bad news about a certain (unspeakable) ‘bug’ that just won’t go away… Just when there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel, we are faced with yet another challenge that withdraws from our energy and faith.

But therein also lies the key: our inherent resilience and ability to bounce back. That’s why I believe in positive energy. It’s what prevents pessimism from slowly creeping in and taking hold. Developing and maintaining a positive mindset involves more than merely thinking happy thoughts. It is the anticipation of a good outcome, and the belief that all obstacles and difficulties can be overcome.

Yes, I admit it. I am an eternal optimist. Optimism is the acknowledgement of the negative, but then choosing to focus on the positive. At its root, it is simply the belief that despite the current circumstances, things will work out favourably in the end. And so, I don’t like to ever entertain negative thoughts – instead, I’d much rather focus on things that make me content, or a bring a smile to my face.

It’s especially important to start a new year off on a positive note. Fortunately, research has proved that there are several things we can do to nurture a positive mindset. These range from spending more time in nature, and performing random acts of kindness, to laughing more, associating with like-minded (positive) people, breathing exercises, physical activities, spoiling yourself, and even a good night’s sleep. Whatever you need to do to find your happy place – something that brings you comfort, and makes you feel alive – remember to make time for that. Daily, if need be.

Despite his status as a powerful and globally successful businessman, this month’s cover personality, Fred Mouawad, really impressed me with his calm, down-toearth, and easy-going demeanour. As the Founder and CEO of Synergia One Group of Companies, and Co-guardian of the 132-year-old House of Mouawad, Fred obviously has a very healthy attitude towards life in general, and shares more than just a few pearls of wisdom with us.

Here at Prestige, we are very excited about the year ahead. We have quite a few cards up our sleeve – new developments and initiatives – that will ensure our position as the Kingdom’s leading luxury lifestyle title. Stay tuned for this, and much more.

Our very best wishes to you for a happy, memorable and successful year ahead. Chin up, stay healthy, and make every day count.

And don’t forget… positive vibes only!
