January 17-30
AUSTRALIAN OPEN
The Australian Open is an important annual tournament, as it is the first of the four ‘Grand Slam’ events in the professional tennis calendar. Held on hard courts since 1988, it is one of the biggest sporting events in the southern hemisphere. The 2022 edition of this two-week tournament promises to be action-packed, with top-ranked female players such as Australia’s own Ashleigh Barty, defending champion Naomi
Osaka (pictured), and British teen sensation Emma Raducanu scheduled to compete. On the men’s side, expect to see some fast and furious play from the likes of Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev (representing Serbia and Russia, respectively).
