POETRY IN MOTION

-

The word kavee means “poem” in Thai, and just as a poem is a thoughtfully composed grouping of words and sentences, the Thai flavours at Kavee are just as intricately and aesthetically arranged. Located on Sukhumvit Soi 38, the restaurant takes over the spot formerly occupied by Table 38, with Chef Worathon “Tae” Udomchalotorn – who studied at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School, then later at the Culinary Institute of America – now helming the kitchen. Along with his extensive schooling, Chef Tae has worked behind the scenes at several Michelin-starred restaurants in the USA, and was part of the opening team at Bangkok’s (still) one-michelin-starred Le Du. At Kavee, his 8-course set menu includes imaginative dishes such as a crab meat and Japanese rice risotto served in a clay pot, fried chicken wings stuffed with sticky rice and topped with Autumn truffle, and Barbary duck that’s been dryaged for 21 days.
