In Japan, an izakaya is the kind of welcoming spot friends gather in for afterwork drinks and casual fare. Now, with the recent opening of Ki Izakaya, Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok adds some of this Japanese flair to its culinary repertoire. Along with an authentic izakaya vibe, the restaurant offers great city views (from the ninth floor), cosy seating for small groups, and a communal table for those who like to mix and mingle. As for the food, Chef Hiroyuki Yokoyama has used his wealth of experience – gleaned from working in award-winning dining spots around the world – to develop an extensive menu of small plates and snacks, including edamame and dashimaki, grilled and fried yakitori favourites, and must-try specials like the Hokkaido soy milk hot pot with Wagyu beef and blue swimmer crab. To complement all this, the drinks menu lists an impressive selection of highballs, whiskies, and sakes, as well as craft and draught beers.
