FIELD OF HAPPINESS
Until June 11
Ardel Third Place Gallery (Thonglor Soi 10) presents ‘Field of Happiness’, a solo exhibition by artist Boonnum Sasood which depicts in loving detail the pastoral lifestyle of farmers in Thailand’s rural Isaan area. Dependent on the natural changes of the seasons, the people who work the land here follow a way of life that has been passed down through countless generations; harvesting produce, raising animals, planting vegetables, and creating a small tightknit community along the way. As a painter, Boonnum’s skill lies is creating light, colour and shape using a multitude of coloured dots, which stems from his being heavily influenced by the Pointillism style that was popular in the Neo Impressionist period (late 19th century) in France. Far removed from the bright lights and frenetic pace of the big city, these painting reflect a different side of the contemporary art scene and have generated interest amongst art collectors both in Thailand and abroad.
