NORWEGIAN PRIMA’S CELEBRITY SEND-OFF

In August, the spectacular Norwegian Prima, the first of six vessels in Norwegian Cruise Line’s new ‘Prima Class’, sets sail on its inaugural voyage from Reykjavík, and will be the first major cruise ship christened in the Icelandic capital. To add to the spectacle, pop superstar Katy Perry – who has also been named the oceanliner’s official “godmother” – will perform at the ceremony and fulfill the longstanding maritime tradition of officially blessing and naming the vessel. As for what passengers can expect on board once the luxurious voyage commences, the master architects at Piero Lissoni are behind the design of the ship’s revamped centralised suite complex where 107 staterooms span eight decks, complete with a stunning infinity pool overlooking the ship’s wake and a new outdoor spa with a glass-walled sauna and cold room. The Prima’s inaugural summer voyages explore Northern Europe, then the itinerary switches to Bermuda sailings (from New York) in October, and Caribbean itineraries for winter.
