Prestige (Thailand)

LUXURY BOOM

- François Oosthuizen | EDITOR-IN-CHIEF francois.o@burdaluxury.com

And, just like that, the end of the year has rolled around. To say that it has been a memorable year in Thailand – considering the unprecedented boom in most luxury sectors in the kingdom – would be an understatement. Never before have we seen so many high-end brands enter the country, or existing brands expanding their retail presence. With the first phase of mega-project One Bangkok launching next year, replete with a luxury lifestyle mall, we can expect this trend to continue. And the list of new brands who have announced their imminent local debuts is also never-ending, which is a massive vote of confidence.

December has become ‘The Giving Issue’ here at Prestige; a time to sing the praises of some extraordinary individuals who are stepping up to support worthy causes they believe in. The end of the year is traditionally also a period of gift-giving, which is why this issue is packed to the brim with coveted gifting ideas – just in case you’re wondering how to spoil your nearest and dearest.

This year, Bangkok certainly had its fair share of high-profile weddings, and one the most recent was that of our cover star, Thai-german actress Kimberley Anne Woltemas (page 56), to Mark Prin. As Cartier Thailand’s ‘Friend of the Maison’, Kimberley has earned her stripes as an accomplished actress and model, and her innate style and popularity explain her massive social media following. In this interview, adapted from a cover story that appeared in our sister publication PIN Prestige (Malaysia) in November, she talks about her and Mark’s 10-year-long relationship that has now been sealed with matrimonial bliss, and reveals a few quirks about herself that are not so well-known.

Here at Prestige, we close the year off on a very positive note, and we are brimming with optimism for what the New Year has to offer. Thank you to our readers, clients, partners, suppliers, contributors, and everyone else who has been a part of our journey over the past year.

We wish you and yours nothing but happy holidays and a spectacularly memorable and prosperous 2024!
