LET’S TALK ABOUT IT

- François Oosthuizen | EDITOR-IN-CHIEF francois.o@burdaluxury.com

According to the World Economic Forum, the four key principles of a meaningful conversation are humility, curiosity, generosity, and accountability. Magic happens when honesty, vulnerability, expression of opinion and ideas, and collaborative conversation are evident. While a conversation can have many purposes, what really makes it meaning ful is the power to co-create, confirm our understandings, and seek solutions to personal and societal challenges. A meaningful conversation can, therefore, ecreate bonds of trust that can build collective action. Asking deeper questions, listening more intently, and creating shared understanding through conversation is a powerful conduit for transformation.

The month, ‘The Conversation Issue’ seeks to achieve just that. From cover personality Pavitporn “Fai” Kanathanavanich (Page 38), third-generation heiress to the Laemthong Corporation Group’s agricultural empire, who makes a compelling case for staying close to family and being content with who you are, to a line-up of 10 well-known personalities who share their views on what it means to be a modern-day gentlemen (Page 57) – and packed with other interesting opinions on a wide array of topics in between – this issue will no doubt give you a lot to talk about.

A topic that is certainly the talk of the town is the mega, mixeduse One Bangkok development (Page 124) that’s embodying a bold vision for the future of urban living in the Thai capital. The project, of which the first phase will be launched later this year, promises to pave the way for sustainable, future-proof environments – replete with a seamless integration of tech-driven solutions, eco-conscious design principles, and a commitment to delivering unparalleled experiences across living, working, and retail. It seems the future of Bangkok is cast in concrete, and exciting times lie ahead.

As you peruse the pages of this issue, you will come across a myriad of other hot issues and discussion points – we’ve even covered timepieces that’s sure to be conversation starters. Immerse yourself, engage in healthy conversation with those around you about topics that are close to your heart, and remember: sometimes, listening is as important as expressing an opinion.

Finally, as temperatures soar across the kingdom this month and we prepare for the Songkran Festival, a very happy Thai New Year to you and yours!

Enjoy!
