World-renowned violinist to perform in Bangkok
Grammy awardwinning American violinist Joshua Bell is heading to town to join the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra for what is sure to be a memorable evening of classical music. One of the most celebrated violinists in the world, Bell was named the music director of London’s Academy of St Martin in the Fields in 2011—becoming only the second person to hold the post after the academy’s founder, Sir Neville Marriner. With a career spanning 30 years as a soloist, chamber musician, recording artist and conductor, Bell has recorded more than 40 CDs garnering Grammy and Mercury award labels among others and is an exclusive Sony classical artist. Virtuoso Bell and the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Charles OlivieriMunroe. The performance takes place at 8pm on September 4 at the Thailand Cultural Centre. Expect to hear works by Max Bruch, Bach, Elgar and Pablo de Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen, (Op 20). Tickets are priced between 800 and 5,000 baht. See thaiticketmajor.com for more.
