The ve­hi­cles in the Mer­cedes S-Class are built like no other, with lo­cal pro­duc­tion help­ing to drive in­no­va­tion

The Mer­cedes S-Class is an iconic state­ment of in­ge­nu­ity in per­fec­tion. Mer­cedes Benz lo­cal pro­duc­tion achieves a new high with the in­clu­sion of the S 350 d Ex­clu­sive and the S 350 d AMG Premium mod­els, which are clev­erly po­si­tioned as two cut­ting-edge vari­ants of the S-Class crafted to ful­fill the driv­ing de­sire of those who al­ways stay ahead of the pack.

The Mer­cedes S-Class pro­vides bet­ter driv­ing ex­pe­ri­ence handin-hand with bet­ter en­vi­ron­men­tal pro­tec­tion. The ex­cite­ment of driv­ing is pro­pelled by the pow­er­ful 6-valve 2,925cc, 286-horse power OM656 diesel en­gine, while the 9G-Tronic au­to­matic gear­box en­hances per­for­mance ex­cel­lence. The cars are also kind to the en­vi­ron­ment with lower emis­sions.

The new en­er­giz­ing com­fort con­trol is the epit­ome of art and sci­ence, de­liv­er­ing un­par­al­leled driv­abil­ity. Premium ambient light­ing, to­gether with the air con­di­tion­ing, sound sys­tem and six-op­tion mas­sage func­tion in the seats are de­signed to serve ev­ery crea­ture

com­fort. Rear oc­cu­pants also get to re­lax in style with the in­clu­sion of the Chauf­feur Seat pack­age as stan­dard. With the pack­age, to­tal rear space can be swiftly in­creased since both front seats can be pushed for­ward by up to 4 cm and 3.7 cm in terms of height, re­sult­ing in more legroom. The S 350 d Ex­clu­sive of­fers a three-spoke multi-func­tion steer­ing wheel with nappa leather cover and touch con­trol panel, while the S 350 d AMG Premium takes ma­noeu­vra­bil­ity to a new level with a three­spoke, flat­tened-bot­tom nappa sports steer­ing wheel with a touch con­trol panel in­cor­po­rated. DINAMICA Mi­crofi­bre-cov­ered sun­shades in the front and fab­ric roof are ex­clu­sive to the S 350 d AMG Premium.

The Dy­namic Se­lect driv­ing pre­set con­troller, a pre-in­stalled nav­i­ga­tion sys­tem, adds to the pres­ti­gious driv­ing ex­pe­ri­ence. With Ap­ple CarPlay™ and An­droid Auto com­pat­i­bil­ity, a wire­less charg­ing pad for driver and pas­sen­ger in the front pro­vides a su­perb cin­e­matic ex­pe­ri­ence to­gether with the Burmester® sur­round sound sys­tem and the in­clu­sion of two per­sonal screens. The S 350 d AMG Premium comes pre-in­stalled with a heads-up dis­play for a best-in-class driv­ing ex­pe­ri­ence.

En­joy driv­ing on all ter­rains with the Air­matic sus­pen­sion sys­tem, which ben­e­fits from the use of ad­justable air springs rather than the tra­di­tional steel springs found in most ve­hi­cles. The sys­tem han­dles the changes in ter­rain through in­stant ad­just­ments of the

shock ab­sorbers, which are able to move the car higher by 30 mm or lower by 20 mm. The Air­matic sus­pen­sion sys­tem also pro­vides sport and com­fort driv­ing modes, which can be se­lected by drivers based on pref­er­ence.

Park­ing Pi­lot and Ac­tive Park As­sist sup­port drivers in all park­ing sit­u­a­tions. The sys­tems de­ter­mine if a park­ing spot is big enough to ac­com­mo­date the car, then ex­pertly steers the ve­hi­cle into po­si­tion. A 360-de­gree cam­era pro­vides all-round vis­i­bil­ity. The ac­tive steer­ing and speed con­trol limit the park­ing speed to no more than 10 kph, while the Drive Away As­sist sys­tem fur­ther en­hances the safety fea­tures avail­able on the S-Class. The sys­tem kicks in when the car is at risk of col­li­sion while switch­ing be­tween gears.

The Driv­ing As­sis­tance pack­age also pro­vides un­ri­valled safety. The pack­age has many fea­tures that re­quire min­i­mal in­put on the driver’s part. The car op­er­ates many of th­ese sys­tems au­to­mat­i­cally. How­ever, the driver still has full con­trol and can take over when­ever nec­es­sary.

Com­mu­ni­ca­tion alerts warn drivers of dan­gers on the road, bad weather con­di­tions and even ac­ci­dents up ahead. Map­ping al­go­rithms in the Ac­tive Dis­tance As­sist Distronic im­prove the cruis­ing speed and ad­just to de­tect traf­fic signs,

turns and crawl­ing traf­fic. The sys­tem cal­cu­lates the speed and dis­tance be­tween cars to ap­ply brak­ing of up to 50 per cent of the reg­u­lar pres­sure to en­sure safety. In ad­di­tion, Ac­tive Steer­ing As­sist helps the car to keep mov­ing when the ve­hi­cle in front does not stay still for more than three sec­onds.

The Ac­tive Blind Spot As­sist is crit­i­cal for pro­vid­ing warn­ings of in­com­ing ve­hi­cles from the side and rear of the car, while the Ac­tive Lane Keep­ing As­sist de­tects if the driver makes a dan­ger­ous at­tempt to switch lanes, pulling the ve­hi­cle back into the cor­rect lane. This is es­pe­cially help­ful when driv­ing on high­ways or mo­tor­ways that have con­gested traf­fic. When the sen­sors de­tect a speed­ing ve­hi­cle from be­hind, the Pre-Safe Plus sys­tem kicks in. The Ac­tive Brak­ing As­sist de­tects dan­gers on the road and helps to ac­ti­vate the brakes for safety. It does so by an adap­tive brake boost­ing ef­fect when the driver ap­plies the brakes too weakly and au­tonomous brak­ing if the driver fails to re­spond at all.

An­other im­por­tant safety fea­ture is Pre-Safe Plus, which is ac­ti­vated when the car de­tects a po­ten­tial im­pact from the rear. The tail­lights blink faster to warn the ap­proach­ing driver. At the same time au­to­matic brak­ing is ap­plied, safety belts au­to­mat­i­cally tighten to brace for any im­pact and the head­rests ad­just to max­imise safety for the driver and pas­sen­gers. For max­i­mum safety on the road the Eva­sive Steer­ing As­sist re­ceives in­put from the MPC cam­era and car radar to de­tect peo­ple or ob­jects that might be on a col­li­sion course. The car evades the peo­ple or ob­ject au­to­mat­i­cally by ad­just­ing to the ap­pro­pri­ate speed and steer­ing needs of the car. The Emer­gency Stop As­sist and Cross-Traf­fic Func­tion kick in when the MPC and radar de­tect col­li­sion risks at in­ter­sec­tions. Should the driver fail to re­spond to the sit­u­a­tion, the car stops to avoid col­li­sion, or at least re­duces the speed of the ve­hi­cle to lessen the col­li­sion im­pact.

The S 350 d AMG Premium is as vis­ually stun­ning as its per­for­mance is ex­cel­lent. The ex­te­rior is mag­nif­i­cently fur­nished with an all-new three-spoke ra­di­a­tor grille and match­ing Multibeam LED head­lights. Equipped with the Ul­tra Range high­beam tech­nol­ogy, the head­lamps can illuminate the road as much as 650 me­tres ahead if on­com­ing ve­hi­cles are not de­tected. The Multibeam LED tech­nol­ogy com­bines the best cur­rent light tech­nolo­gies and can au­to­mat­i­cally ad­just the dis­tri­bu­tion of light quickly and pre­cisely to al­most any sit­u­a­tion on the road. It con­stantly pro­vides unusu­ally bright and ex­pan­sive il­lu­mi­na­tion of the road sur­face and verge with­out daz­zling other drivers. This makes driv­ing much safer for all road users. The fi­bre op­tic tail lamps are stan­dard on both mod­els.

The S 350 d Ex­clu­sive glides along on 19-inch multi-spoke al­loy wheels while the S 350 d AMG Premium uses AMG 20-inch 10-spoke al­loy wheels as well as AMG-made sport front bumper, rear bumper and side skirts.
