In­ter­na­tional com­mis­sioner of the Na­tional Scout Or­ga­ni­za­tion of Thai­land Pansak Ran­si­brah­manakul has just re­turned from the 26th Asia-Pa­cific Re­gional (APR) Scout Con­fer­ence, the gov­ern­ing body for the re­gion which meets ev­ery three years. Hosted this time by the Philip­pines, the agenda in­cluded the 9th scout youth fo­rum, course for leader train­ers and awards for out­stand­ing scouts.

At the meet­ing Dr Som­boon Bun­yasiri from Thai­land was elected to serve as vice chair­man of the Asia Pa­cific Re­gional Com­mit­tee, with Pansak re­plac­ing him as vice chair­man of the APR Scout Foun­da­tion Man­age­ment Com­mit­tee. Pansak was also se­lected to join the Gold Palm mem­ber­ship.

Scout­ing is a global youth move­ment with over 40 mil­lion mem­bers world­wide, of which more than 30 mil­lion are in the Asia-Pa­cific re­gion. Twenty-seven na­tional scout or­gan­i­sa­tions are mem­bers of the Asia-Pa­cific Re­gional Com­mit­tee and the next re­gional con­fer­ence will be held in Tai­wan in 2021.
