Masked dancing to feature in year-long cultural celebration
THE CULTURE MINISTRY will stage khon (masked) dances at the National Theatre from next month. The performances will be part of a year-long celebration of khon, which was recently added to Unesco’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The Fine Arts Department will stage the Ramayana episode “Hanuman Charndej” on January 6 and February 3 (2pm on both days) and tickets costing Bt100, Bt150 and Bt200 will on sale at the theatre from December 21.
The Ministry also plans to present an animation on the Ramayana with an exhibition, workshop and seminars on khon throughout the Kingdom and overseas.
