Masked danc­ing to fea­ture in year-long cul­tural cel­e­bra­tion

THE CUL­TURE MIN­ISTRY will stage khon (masked) dances at the Na­tional The­atre from next month. The per­for­mances will be part of a year-long cel­e­bra­tion of khon, which was re­cently added to Un­esco’s list of In­tan­gi­ble Cul­tural Her­itage.

The Fine Arts Depart­ment will stage the Ra­mayana episode “Hanuman Charn­dej” on Jan­uary 6 and Fe­bru­ary 3 (2pm on both days) and tick­ets cost­ing Bt100, Bt150 and Bt200 will on sale at the the­atre from De­cem­ber 21.

The Min­istry also plans to present an an­i­ma­tion on the Ra­mayana with an ex­hi­bi­tion, work­shop and sem­i­nars on khon through­out the King­dom and over­seas.
