Man Utd and Liverpool to clash in Bangkok

-

BANGKOK IS SET TO host one of the most keenlycontested derbies in World football as it was confirmed last Friday (Feb 18) that Manchester United and Liverpool will face one another in an exhibition match.

Fresh Air Festival confirmed it had signed a deal to bring the Premier league heavyweights to play at Rajamangala National Stadium on July 12 in a match called ‘THE

MATCH Bangkok Century Cup 2022’.

Despite the match officially

being a friendly, fans can expect a full-blooded affair as encounters between the two clubs in any capacity rarely lack passion or incident.

The organiser stated that both clubs had promised to send full strength squads, alleviating fears that the match, dubbed the ‘Red War’ by the Thai media and fans, would not be treated as a serious contest.

Liverpool currently sit second in the Premier League and have a squad bursting with talent – Mohamed Salah,

Roberto Firminio, Vigil Van Dijk and Sadio Mane are just a few of the players that are household names around the world, likewise their hugely charasmatic and popular man

ager Jurgen Klopp.

Whereas Manchester United have recently endured turbulent times by their lofty standards, they still possess a squad teeming with riches such as Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes

and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The club, under the stewardship of interim manager Ralf Rangnick, currently sit in fourth place in the Premier League and are hoping to secure Champions League qualification by season’s end.

Further details will be announced at a press conference

on March 9.
