PKK massacre takes the spotlight

-

devoted the large part of their group meetings to the PARTY LEADERS massacre in Iraq’s Gara region where 13 Turkish citizens were executed by the PKK. The opposition tore into the government, while the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Leader Devlet Bahceli repeated his demand to shut down the People’s Democratic Party (HDP).

Speaking at the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Group Meeting, President Kemal Kilicdaroglu recalled President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s statement that he would give good news last week. “He was implying that he would save our brothers, according to him, however all of them were martyred,” Kilicdaroglu said. “The person governing the state doesn’t say that he will announce something important. •perations are conducted undercover.”

FIVE QUESTIONS FROM CHP

Moreover, Kilicdaroglu asked five questions to President Erdogan about the Gara •peration: “What had you done to try to rescue these citizens captured by separatist terrorist organization over the last five and a half years? Why didn’t you asked Abdullah •calan, the head of the terrorist organization, to call for the release of these citizens, even though you begged for a letter so that he would help you in the elections? You bragged saying ‘My friend Trump’ for years. Why didn’t you use your friendship to rescue citizens from the terrorist organization? Haven’t you ever thought at least to call organizations such as the Human Rights Foundation, Human Rights Association and Association for Human Rights and Solidarity for the •ppressed (MAZLUMDER) so that our children would be released and wouldn’t be harmed? Who will assume the failure of the operation launched to rescue our 13 citizens?”

HDP MUST BE SHUT DOWN: MHP

“From now on, the counterterrorism strategy won’t be the same after Gara, as it was before Gara,” said MHP Leader Devlet Bahceli about the death of 13 citizens. Bahceli harshly criticized the HDP. “We don’t want deputies calling honorable those who are baby killers. We can’t tolerate deputies calling terrorists guerillas. It’s enough; we are at the end of our tether. It’s not bearable anymore,” he said. “The salary of these deputies and other HDP party members receive from the nation’s taxes are unlawful. The longer the HDP’s remains open, the more damage we do to our government’s sovereignty.”

THEY ARE TURNING US INTO A SCAPEGOAT: HDP

HDP Co-Chair Mithat Sancar stated that the government has made the HDP the scapegoat to cover its responsibility for the killings. “This is a massacre, no matter how the deaths happened. It’s definitely impossible to accept this situation. We clearly condemn this,” Sancar said. “But condemnation isn’t enough. We must reveal the truth. If we don’t, we can neither secure justice nor establish peace.”
