CONSUMER CONFIDENCE REBOUNDS
The seasonally-adjusted consumer confidence index increased by 6.2% from 68.9 to 73.2 in January, compared to December, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). The index of household finances rose by 3.6% over the past 12 months from 54.1 to 56.1 while the household finances expectations index in the next 12 months surged by 9.3% from 65.2 to 71.3 in the same period. The index measuring expectations for the general economic situation in the next 12 months jumped 11.8% from 66.7 to 74.5 in January. The index for the assessment of spending on durable goods over the next 12 months increased by 1.4% from 89.6 to 90.9 points monthly.
