EMPLOYMENT UP BY 269,169 PEOPLE IN THE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY
Employment in the manufacturing industry increased by 269,169 to 3.57 million in the in 2021 compared to the previous year, according to the capacity report statistics prepared by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB). The number of capacity reports, which show a firm’s unit capacity for manufacturing within a year and are prepared especially before tenders or investments, increased by 9.5% to 85,079 in the same period.
43.4% of companies that received the capacity report employed between 1-9 people while 39.8% employed 10-49 people. The share of enterprises that employed 50-99 people was 8.1% and the share of those that created jobs for 100-249 people was 2.7%. Cankiri was the province with the highest number of employees per facility (97.2%). Turkey’s average, meanwhile, stood at 41.7% last year in this respect. 2,276 capacity reports were prepared for high technology products, 23,263 for medium-high technology products, 29,259 for mediumlow technology products, and 40,918 for low technology products last year. The capacity reports prepared by the TOBB are valid for two years.
