SISECAM ACQUIRES ITALIAN REFEL

Glass company Sisecam will acquire Italy-based REFEL, which manufactures refractory materials used in the production of glass melting furnaces, according to a statement from Sisecam. With this acquisition, Sisecam aims to eliminate the risk of breakage in the refractory supply chain. The companies promises to follow the needs of REFEL’s existing and potential customers for AZS (alumina-zirconia-silica) refractories and continue to provide global services to its customers. “The guarantee for the supply of critical materials plays a key role in a period when the supply chain has deteriorated. It is critical to carry out investments on time. Sisecam will manage its own supply processes and widen its scope within the glass industry with this investment,” said Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kirman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sisecam.
