NUMBER OF PAID EMPLOYEES DROPS IN DECEMBER

The total number of paid employees in the manufacturing, construction, and trade-services sector dropped by 50,249 from 13.83 million to 13.78 million in December 2021, compared to the previous month, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). Zooming in on sub-sectors, the number of paid employees in the construction sector decreased by 0.6% monthly while those in the manufacturing and trade-services sectors increased by 0.6% and 0.8%, respectively. The total number of paid employees in the manufacturing, construction, and trade-services sectors surged by 8.4% in December 2021, year-on-year. In terms of sub-sectors, the number of paid employees in the manufacturing industry rose by 6.7% annually, while those in the construction and trade-services sectors increased by 3.2% and 10.6%, respectively.
