RETAIL SALES VOLUME DOWN BY 2.7% IN DECEMBER

Retail sales volume at constant prices dropped by 2.7% in December, compared to November, according to the Turkish Statistica­l Institute (TurkStat). Food, drinks and tobacco sales, non-food sales, excluding automotive fuel and automotive fuel sales, dropped by 4.3%, 2.3% and 1.5%, respective­ly, in the same period. Retail turnover at current prices, meanwhile, increased by 5.8% in December 2021, month-over-month. Retail sales volume at constant prices surged by 15.5% and retail turnover at current prices jumped 64.7% in December 2021 as compared to December 2020.
