CRISIS DESK SET UP: TURKISH TRUCKS AND SHIPS SEEK A WAY TO TURKEY

-

Transportation services have been halted in Ukraine since Russia invaded the country. Around 300 Turkish trucks and more than 10 Turkish-owned vessels are seeking a way to return to Turkey. Nearly 300 Turkish trucks are located in the region, according to the International Transporters Association (UND). Some of them departed to directly for Ukraine, while the majority of them were supposed to go to Russia and Belarus through Ukraine. UND officials, who are evaluating alternative routes for Turkish drivers to return to Turkey, said a crisis desk has been set up under the umbrella of the Trade Ministry. The ships, which were anchored off the coast of Ukraine, have started to return, while vessels close to the port are waiting. Ships can’t leave the port as port authorities have closed ports to entries and exits. Coaster Ship Owners and Operators Association (KOSDER) officials said they are holding talks with the Turkish Foreign Ministry to ensure that the crews in these vessels return home safely.
