NUMBER OF PAID EMPLOYEES UP IN JANUARY

The total number of paid employees in the manufacturing, construction and trade-services sectors surged by 6.8% in January compared to the same month last year, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). The number of paid employees increased from 12.6 million to 13.5 million in this period. Zooming in on sub-sectors, the number of paid employees in the manufacturing industry rose by 5.4% annually while those in the construction and trade-services sectors increased by 0.2% and 9.0%, respectively. The total number of paid employees in the manufacturing, construction and trade-services sectors remained unchanged in January on a monthly basis.
