AUTO SALES DOWN BY 33% IN MARCH

Passenger car and light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales dropped by 33.4% to 64,267 units in March, compared to the same month last year, according to the Automotive Distributo­rs Associatio­n (ODD). Passenger car sales declined by 34.3% to 50,173 units, while LCV sales decreased by 29.8% to 14,094 units in the same period. The decrease also stemmed from the base effect as 94,600 units of passenger cars and LCVs were sold in March 2021. Passenger car and LCV sales remained nearly unchanged in March, compared to the previous month. Passenger car and LCV sales dropped by 23.5% to 152,050 units in the first quarter (Q1) of the year, compared to the same quarter last year. Passenger car sales fell by 25.3% to 116,834, while LCV sales were down by 16.5% to 35,216 in Q1 2022, as compared to Q1 2021. AYSEL YUCEL
