RETAIL SALES INDICES UP IN FEBRUARY

The retail sales volume at constant prices increased by 6.2% in February compared to the same month last year, according to the Turkish Statistica­l Institute (TurkStat). Food, drink, and tobacco sales, and automotive fuel sales dropped by 0.6% and 0.7%, respective­ly, while non-food sales, excluding automotive fuel sales, increased by 12.6% in this period. Retail turnover at current prices, meanwhile, surged by 82.2% in February yearover-year. Food, drink, and tobacco sales, non-food sales, excluding automotive fuel sales, and automotive fuel sales jumped 61.1%, 83.0%, and 125.1%, respective­ly, in the same period. The retail sales volume at constant prices surged by 0.5% and retail turnover at current prices increased by 7.5% in February, as compared to January.
