-

The Belgium-based multinational drink and brewing company AB InBev (Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV) has kicked off talks with its partner, Anadolu Efes, to sell its shares of its brewing subsidiary that oversees production and marketing operations in Russia and Ukraine. AB InBev has started negotiations with Anadolu Efes to hand over the shares of AB InBev Efes NV, the joint venture of AB InBev and Anadolu Efes, according to a statement from the Belgian brewing company. “The demand to halt production and sales of the Bud brand in Russia will be evaluated as a part of the agreement,” Anadolu Efes said in a statement made to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP). AB InBev also holds a 24% stake in Anadolu Efes. Many western companies have stopped operations in Russia or withdrawn from the country due to Western sanctions. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24, has also paved the way for at least 5 million Ukrainians to leave their country.
