VEHICLES WILL BE USING FUEL AS TODAY IN 2050

-

The number of light vehicles is expected to increase to 2.3 billion in 2050 from

1.3 billion today, according to Siper. The total figure including trucks, buses, tractors, and other vehicles will reach

3.3 billion by 2050. “It is believed that 30-40% of these 2.3 billion cars will be electric. Currently, 0.7 percent is electric. Today, only one-fifth of oil and its products are consumed in transport and cars consume 40-50% share of this – they consume less than other vehicles. This indicates that fuel will be consumed in automobiles as much as it is today, perhaps slightly lower, in 2050. However, the number of non-electric vehicles, excluding cars, is increasing. LNG is also used in non-automobile vehicles, but such heavy commercial vehicles have been used for many years. For example, if a car has a lifespan of ten years, a truck has 20 more,” Siper said.
