Trendyol launches TRY 500m transfer center

-

THE E-COMMERCE platform Trendyol has put into service the Adana Transfer Center, of which inauguration was moved to an earlier time due to the twin quakes that hit southern Turkey on February 6. The Adana Transfer Hub, which became operational with a TRY 500m investment, has been the largest transfer center in the region. The e-commerce platform predated the opening to an earlier date to contribute to the recovery of the regional economy and employment, according to Trendyol Group President Caglayan Cetin. The inauguration of the hub was planned for the middle of the year, according to the original plan.

“With the disaster we experienced, we aimed to provide a long-term and permanent benefit to the region after meeting the urgent needs first.

In this direction, we decided to put into use our transfer center earlier to recover the regional economy, create employment, and turn the wheels again as soon as possible,” Cetin said. “Our transfer hub starts to operate with around TRY 500m investment. The hub, which was built on an area of nearly 20,000 square meters, is the largest transfer center in the region,” he added. The company will put into service another transfer center with higher capacity in the capital Ankara soon.

The Trendyol Group President stated that there were products among the urgent needs sent to the quake-hit region that weren’t manufactured in Turkey before. He also said they met this need with the production power of Trendyol. “We had thousands of outdoor sleeping bags for children to be produced, and we rapidly delivered them to the disaster-hit region,” Caglayan Cetin noted.

Trade volume to be provided by Trendyol in the region will reach TRY 70bn in three years, according to Cetin. “Starting this year, we aim for our 35,000 sellers in the region to start overseas sales, including Germany and Azerbaijan. We also plan to make them able to sell in the world,” Cetin said, stressing that they’ll give all kinds of support, including technology, training, and language integration, to achieve this.

Cetin added that the trade volume of the dealers in the quake-hit region totaled TRY 10.5bn last year. “We’ve set a trade volume target of TRY 16bn for this year. We’ll maintain our support to our sellers so that they can achieve this goal.”

PRODUCTION VOLUME TO BE TRIPLED IN THE REGION

Caglayan Cetin said the home-brand products of Trendyol are manufactured by 420 producers at 4,000 local enterprises in Turkey. “There are 18 manufacturing plants, 65 ateliers, and over 4,000 employees, which manufacture our home brand products in the quake-hit region,” Cetin added. “With all our strength, we’ll continue to back these businesses, which make a substantial employment and commercial contribution to the region so that they raise and start production,” he noted. Cetin also stated that the revenue Trendyol provides to manufacturers of its home-brand products in the region will be tripled to around TRY 1bn by the end of this year, as compared to 2022.
