WINNERS OF THE SKYLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST ANNOUNCED
The awards for the Skylife Photography Contest, organized by Turkish Airlines, have been given to the winners at a ceremony held at the Zorlu Performing Arts Center.
The awards ceremony for the 3rd International Skylife Photography Contest, held at the Zorlu Performing Art Center, was attended by Turkey’s Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk; Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee M. İlker Aycı.
This year the theme was “Discover” and 11,455 photographs were submitted from 115 countries. The winners not only received awards from Turkish Airlines, but also category awards and honorable mentions from the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), the international photography society Global Photographic Union (GPU), and the Photographic Arts Federation of Turkey (TFSF).
The first three winners were given awards by Selçuk, Çavuşoğlu, and Aycı. The Turkish Airlines Grand Prize was won by Fei Xie. The Turkish Airlines Second Grand Prize was won by Mustafa Kurtbaş, and the Turkish Airlines Third Grand Prize was won by Thi Ha Maung.
As part of the “International Skylife Photography Contest,” the gold, silver, and bronze medals of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), an organization with more than one million individual photographers and close to
100 national societies as members, were presented by FIAP
President Riccardo Bus. The actor Engin Altan Düzyatan and artist photographer İzzet Keribar, who holds an honorary medal from FIAP, presented the awards of the Global Photographic Union, considered to be one of the most influential photographic societies in the world.
The medals in the Photographic Arts Federation of Turkey (TFSF) category were presented by TFSF Board Member and General Secretary Duygu Nazire Kaşıkçı.
In a speech at the awards ceremony, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee M. İlker Aycı said, “As a flag-carrier airline we do not limit ourselves to flight operations. Taking inspiration from our culture that represents thousands of years of unity and harmony, we are pleased to organize cultural, artistic, and sporting events that unite different countries and civilizations, building bridges between countless cultures and societies. Today, we are celebrating the 3rd Skylife Photography Contest, an organization that tries to answer all these needs. Although only three years old, this competition has brought new life to photography as demonstrated by the high level of participation. I would like to thank all the participants in the name of our global brand ambassador and congratulate the winners.”
