Dear Guests,

-

We are about to leave behind a year we lived to the full. We connected every corner of the world via Istanbul with our new flight routes, new aircraft, and the new privileges we continuously offer you. We will continue to host you, our dear guests, in safety and comfort, and continue to discover new places together in the New Year. Welcome on board!

An Unparalleled Record: The Great Move

The year 2019 was full of innovations for Turkish Airlines. As we leave behind our 86th year in the skies, we are continuously improving ourselves with the experience we have accumulated over time. Our “Great Move” to the new Istanbul Airport last April was completed in record time. Forty-seven tons of equipment were transported with 1,557 truck deliveries. We completed the operation, expected to finish in 45 hours, in just 33 hours. During this huge operation, our trucks covered a total of 400,000 kilometers. Currently, we are flying our passengers direct from our new hub to 126 countries. Istanbul, the natural aviation centre, is now even more dynamic. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all my colleagues who contributed to this remarkable achievement.

Discover

We accompany you with our Anatolian hospitality on your journey to discover the world. We are extremely proud to assist you, our guests, whenever needed. We are strengthening and expanding our title as the airline that flies to more countries than any other airline in the world. In 2019, we launched flights in Turkey to Uşak, Siirt, Çanakkale, and Zonguldak. Worldwide, we added the cities of Sharjah (UAE), Marrakesh (Morocco), Strasbourg (France), Port Harcourt (Nigeria), Bali/Denpasar (Indonesia), Pointe-Noire (Republic of the Congo), Mexico City and Cancun (Mexico), Luxor (Egypt), Rovaniemi (Finland), and Xi’an (China) to our flight network. In the New Year, we will continue to discover the world with you on flights to the cities of Osaka (Japan) and Newark (USA), and additional destinations that we will be adding to our flight network. We are delighted to fly you to your loved ones on the flights we operate to 316 destinations in 126 countries.

Safety and Comfort

As Turkish Airlines, our main priority is always hosting our passengers in safety and comfort. In the 102 inspections carried out as a part of the SAFA (Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft) program by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in the past year, we achieved great success. Achieving a rate of 0.17, the best score in our history, we secured one of the most successful scores among European airlines. While we continuously develop our fleet and destinations, and offer new privileges, we host you, our dear guests, in safety. We are proud to have been selected a 5-star airline for the third consecutive year at the APEX/IFSA Airline Passenger Experience awards ceremony organized in Los Angeles. Another great achievement is that we were awarded the A.L.F.A Awards’ Customer Brand Award, presented based on customer experience analysis. We are constantly developing the unparalleled travel experience we offer to our passengers. Additionally,

once again we were also selected “Turkey’s Most Valuable Brand” in the Brand Finance report. We will continue to be our country’s leading global brand with the same enthusiasm.

New Advantages

This year we redesigned the uniforms of our cabin, cockpit, and ground services crews who are with you on every step of your flight with smiling faces. Our new home and brand identity now welcomes you with a holistic concept. Our new image that stands out with its stylishness and comfort is inspired by the flow of Istanbul’s Bosphorus, which connects the continents, combined with a design based on the fine details of Anatolian culture. We also made improvements to the amenity kits to increase comfort on your flights. The travel sets we offer on long-haul Economy Class and Business Class flights were designed for Turkish Airlines by leading brands including Versace, Molton Brown, and Mandarina Duck. We did not forget our younger guests; we also redesigned our travel sets for our young passengers. With our products that impress not only with their convenience but also with their style, your journey is more enjoyable. We are also pleased to accompany you in Istanbul, a source of inspiration for our brand identity. Discover Istanbul with the Stopover complimentary accommodation we offer our guests with extended layovers on our transfer flight. We expanded this with new destinations throughout the year, and the United Kingdom (London, Birmingham, Edinburgh) and Ireland (Dublin) were also added to our list last month. Currently, we offer an unparalleled Istanbul experience to our passengers from 93 destinations in 36 countries. To turn your flight into an enjoyable experience, you can access details on our website. We are also working to increase the comfort on flights our passengers take with their furry friends. We have reserved a special check-in counter at Istanbul Airport for our guests traveling with their pets. You can use the E20 check-in counter with our furry guests before all domestic and international flights and complete the check-in process much faster and easier. We are also improving our boarding card designed in Braille to offer our passengers an unobstructed travel experience. In addition, our cabin crews are learning sign language so we can host our guests even better. As Turkish Airlines, we aim to raise awareness. We are launching a priority baggage application for our passengers with disabilities who are Miles&Smiles members. With our new service, passengers will be able to access their baggage quicker. We will be continuing to offer new innovations that will make your journeys easier.

Young and Modern

We are continuing to grow in our new home, becoming even stronger with the advantage of Istanbul’s geography. In 2023, we plan to have more than 500 aircraft in our fleet. The Turkish Airlines fleet is one of the world’s youngest, most modern airline fleets with an average age of 8.2 years, and has a total of 355 aircraft including 332 passenger and 23 cargo aircraft. Previously, we placed an order for 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 30 Airbus 350. This year, among our new-generation aircraft, six Dreamliners with locally designed cabins and seats joined our fleet. We will continue to expand with our Airbus 350 aircraft that will be joining our fleet in early 2020. While our fleet continues to grow with the completed orders, the advantageous services we offer are reaching even more guests with our new aircraft. In the first nine months of the year, our seat occupancy rate reached 83.3 %. In the same period, we hosted 63.1 million passengers with great pleasure.

We Carry the World’s Cargo

In the first ten months of 2019, the total cargo volume we carried increased by 9.3% compared with the same period last year, reaching 1.3 million tons. Turkish Cargo, our air cargo brand, continues to grow rapidly and flies to more than 300 destinations in 26 countries (88 of which are direct cargo flights). While the air cargo sector dropped 5.4% globally in the first nine months of the year, our brand ranked in seventh place in the sector with a tonnage increase of 8.8%. Turkish Cargo continues to operate

with a total of 355 aircraft including 23 cargo aircraft and supports valuable projects in the scope of social initiatives. With the hashtag #MissionRescue, we contribute to preserving natural life by enabling animals to be transported to their natural habitats.

We Fly for Anatolia

Our brand AnadoluJet, which offers advantageous privileges, increased its flight destinations to 79 in 2019 and continues to connect the Anatolian region. AnadoluJet achieved a seat occupancy rate of 86% according to results from 10 months of 2019 and reached a capacity of 14.5 million passengers. With our flights, which we began from six Turkish cities to destinations in Northern Cyprus and from two Turkish cities to Erbil, the region of Anatolia has now become a stronger connection point. We work hard for you to get privileged flights in Anatolia at a reasonable price. As we fly you to new destinations with AnadoluJet, we constantly improve the service quality we offer. We have increased our alternatives by updating our flight packages. With the new features we added to all our digital platforms, the preflight and postflight procedures are much quicker and much easier. Naturally, our smiling faces and hospitality during the flight is something that never changes.

Rising Even Higher Together

As in previous years, throughout 2019, we continued to give our support to sports and culture on a global scale. In the same way that we are aware of the importance of developments in innovations, environmentalism, and technology, we also believe that preserving and sharing cultures is our duty. As the airline flying to more countries than any other airline in the world, we will continue to connect the globe. CSKA Moscow won the 2019 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four, played in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz and awaited by basketball fans with enthusiasm. I congratulate our two long-established basketball teams, Fenerbahçe Beko and Anadolu Efes, that made it to the finals, and I also congratulate the tournament’s champions. We recently hosted amateur golfers from around the world in our country at the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup and the top names in golf at the Turkish Airlines Open. We are delighted that we had the opportunity to support TEKNOFEST that inspires the future by bringing the youth and technology together, and the Ethnosport Culture Festival that teaches traditional sports and games to the new generations. In the New Year, we will be happy to contribute to the development of culture, art, technology, and sports all over the world.

We combine the experience and ideas of our family at Turkish Airlines with your views. And with your feedback, we fly even higher. We reach new achievements because you, our dear guests, choose us. I would like to sincerely thank you. Once again, I would like to congratulate all my colleagues who work continuously to please you. We hope to host you, drawing our inspiration from Anatolian hospitality, again in 2020. I also hope that the New Year brings health and peace to our country and to the entire world.
