an “event” analysis by bernard tschumi: factory 798

Ali Devrim Işıkkaya | The Factory 798 “Housing” Project for 10.000 inhabitants as a Bernard Tschumi architectural proposal on/above the old industrial Chinese settlement located in Beijing since 1950s, is mainly a rhizometric diagram which does at the same time superpose/juxtapose old and new morphologies of governmental, investor’s and public requirements. There is a dialectic relationship between the old factory campus and Tschumi diagram – organisation of notations. Tschumi with his trans-, cross and dis-program “eventment” strategies offers kind of a multi layered/dimensional reconciliation.
