giving rise to chaos; diagrammatic manners, diagrammatic practices and “material-immaterial”
Emre Gökdel I There exist complex relations between architecture, site, program and other mechanisms and forces in work; both material and immaterial. Out of these relations, breeds a certain way of behaving. Being diagram-like or diagrammatic may be read in such a way. Gordon Matta-Clark, through his experiments on and with entropy and energy cycles, both acknowledges these complex situations and operates with them. Through his work and the way he chooses to represent them; the everyday space, the architectural object and the metabolism of the city are all intervened through tensions such as building-destroying/old-new, etc. - making visible the material and immaterial forces at work.
