Yıldırım Holding will grow with new investments in Kazakhstan

- Yüksel Yıldırım

"We wholeheartedly believe in Kazakhstan and our project"

Yıldırım Group of Companies President & CEO Yüksel Yıldırım, explained that they started their first activities in Kazakhstan by incorporating the Voskhod Krom Mine, which produces the world's best quality chrome ore, into the holding in 2014.

Yüksel Yıldırım said, “We started chrome mining in Türkiye in 2004 with Eti Krom. After 10 years, in 2014, we started to produce chrome ore with our second chrome mine with Voskhod Chrome Mine in Kazakhstan”.

Stating that they have added Albchrome in Albania, which is the largest chrome mine in Europe, to their structure this year, Yıldırım said, “Our company also produces ferrochrome metal, which gives stainless steel its anti-corrosion feature, within its own body, such as Eti Krom (Türkiye), Vargön Alloys (Sweden), Albchrome, (Albania) and Tikhvin Ferroalloys (Russia). This diversity protects us and our long-term international customers from geographical and economic risks.”

Yüksel Yıldırım stated that the second biggest project they are proud of in Kazakhstan will be the Qazaq Soda plant. Stating that Qazaq Soda is an investment that will reduce Kazakhstan's dependence on foreign sources, Yıldırım said, "Soda ash, which is used especially in glass making and chemical industry, is imported to Kazakhstan today. There is a huge amount of money spent on this. Therefore, we believe that the Qazaq

Soda plant, which will be established to meet Kazakhstan's soda ash consumption, will multiply the socio-economic impact we have created so far and reduce the country's trade deficit.

Yüksel Yıldırım said that they made an investment of 440 million dollars with the Qazaq Soda initiative, which will be the first soda ash production facility in the country.

Yıldırım said, “We revised the facility, which we had designed according to an annual production capacity of

400 thousand tons in the first stage, according to an annual production capacity of 500 thousand tons. We wholeheartedly believe in Kazakhstan and our project. When our facility comes into operation in 2024, it will be a project of national importance that will meet the domestic demand of Kazakhstan and Central Asia and reduce its dependence on foreign sources.
