ODAŞ Energy started its international expansion from Uzbekistan
Stating that ODAŞ is a company operating in the field of energy and mining and also produces with a sense of responsibility towards society and the environment on a global scale, Chairman of ODAŞ Energy Group Ahmet Can said that they managed to enter the BIST 100 index in the 5 years following the establishment. Stating that they are still in the BIST 100 index, Can said, “In the field of energy; We produce with domestic coal in our Çan 2 Thermal Power Plant with a capacity of 330 MW and we can directly convert domestic lignite coal into electricity.”
Emphasizing that this place is one of the few power plants in the private sector in Türkiye, Ahmet Can noted that they carried their knowledge and strong capital infrastructure in the field of energy to the international arena by realizing the natural gas combined cycle power plant project in Uzbekistan.
“The electricity needs of 500 thousand households in Uzbekistan are being met”
Reminding that they signed an agreement with the government of Uzbekistan in August 2021, Can said that in this context, the establishment of a natural gas combined cycle power plant with a total installed capacity of 174 MWe in the Khwarezm Province of Uzbekistan and the sale of the electricity produced from the plant to the National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan (NEGU) will be made.
“There are important opportunities in Türkiye-Uzbekistan cooperation”
Underlining that Türkiye is a country that is close to walking together with its neighbors and its close geography in different fields, producing and enriching relations with its 100-year republican history and strong position, Can said, “I think that the two countries can act together on issues such as energy supply and technology needs that Uzbekistan needs. There may be joint ventures for the modernization of the energy and manufacturing industry sectors for both countries. There are significant opportunities in this area.”
