Reclaiming all water used for nature and society
COCA-COLA is producing long-term projects for the replenishment of water to nature, which is one of the most important inputs in production. Within the framework of its commitments for the year 2030, it aims to replenish the water it uses in its beverages to nature and society. Projects such as “Night Irrigation” and “Future Agriculture,” which aim to ensure the recycling of water, protect the soil, and increase productivity, are continuously maintained. Within the scope of these projects, agricultural technologies and digital monitoring methods are used to track the soil’s water retention capacity, and information sharing on efficient water use techniques in agriculture is also conducted with farmers. The Harran Plain Night Irrigation Project, initiated in collaboration with the Nature Conservation Center, Harran University, and the Cullap Irrigation Union Management and affiliated farmers in 2014, is one of the first applications regarding water. In the Future Agriculture Project, services provided by these ecosystems and the risks they face are mapped for the conservation and development of ecosystems. The project demonstrates a significant reduction in water usage while increasing crop yield through night irrigation. Under the water replenishment project initiated in Bursa in 2023 within the partnership of the DOKTAR social initiative with funding support from the Coca-Cola Foundation and CocaCola İçecek, water-saving techniques such as smart irrigation, regenerative agriculture, and rainwater harvesting are implemented, while capacitybuilding and awareness-raising training are provided to farmers.
