Jobless rate at seven year high
Turkey’s unemployment rate rose to 13 percent in January, the highest since February 2010. The rate showed a yearon-year 1.9 percent increase, according to data from the Turkish Statistics Institute (Turkstat). While the country’s non-agricultural unemployment was announced at 15.2 percent with a
2.2 percentage point increase, youth unemployment increased to 24.5 percent with a 5.3 percentage point increase. Turkey’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 11.8 percent in the January 2017 period with 0.2 percentage point decrease. Labor force participation rate was 51.5 percent with 0.8 percentage point increase.
